Why work with a broker
Most borrowers don’t realize how much mortgage pricing and qualifying can vary between lenders. The same borrower, property, and documentation can be evaluated differently depending on the lender’s programs, pricing, and underwriting guidelines. A direct lender is limited to the programs available through its own lending platform, while a mortgage broker can compare options across multiple wholesale lenders.
Kennedy Mortgage works with a broad network of wholesale lenders. When one lender offers stronger pricing, we can place the loan there. When another lender is better suited to a specific qualifying scenario—such as a self-employed borrower, an ITIN borrower, or a unique investment property—we can evaluate that option instead. The goal is to match the borrower and property with the lender and program that best fits the transaction.
With more than 20 years of mortgage lending and real estate experience, I understand that lenders can differ substantially in pricing, underwriting guidelines, documentation requirements, and how they approach specific borrower scenarios. Knowing where a loan is most likely to fit—and how to structure it properly—is an important part of what a mortgage broker brings to the process.
